Welcome back in this video, we're gonna learn about tableau workbook. 15:15:09 So what are they? And how are we going to interact with them? 15:15:11 So what is a workbook? The tableau Gui structure is similar to Microsoft excel like I said in an earlier video, the project that you're working on is contained within a workpl. 15:15:23 So workbooks can contain multiple worksheets, multiple stories and multiple dashboards. 15:15:29 So in this node in this video, we'll talk a little bit about worksheets and show them off in the app. 15:15:36 But we won't touch on stories and dashboards too much until the end of this section of the Mini course. 15:15:42 So a worksheet contains a single view along with the Gui L. 15:15:48 Elements that allow you to edit that view. A view is just a visualization of some kind. 15:15:53 So this is what it looks like in the desktop. 15:15:56 App. This is a workbook and if you're opening the tableau application or the web, version of the application from scratch, it's what you immediately go to after you load the data that you're wanting to work with. 15:16:08 You'll click on the sheet one, or whatever the sheet is called. 15:16:11 This is a worksheet, so you can see we've got our things like our data over here. 15:16:15 We've got various places in the view. So this area right here with marks, filters, sheet one. 15:16:24 All this is known as the view. So when you make visualizations, you're making them in the view down here, if we wanted to add a new work sheet, we could go ahead and click this button that says new worksheet when we hover over it. 15:16:38 We can also create stories or dashboards by clicking one of these 2 buttons. 15:16:43 So this one is a new story, and the one in the middle is the new dashboard, and there's a bigger version of the image in the in the notebook. 15:16:53 So the one on the left that's covered here is for making a new worksheet, and the one this one in the middle is the dashboard, and the one on the far right is a story. 15:17:05 So these can hold multiple views in different ways. We'll talk about them near the end. 15:17:12 Once we've learned how to make a various visualizations within tableau and they are going to be 2 ways that you can present your visualizations that you've made with tableau and they are going to be 2 ways that you can present your visualizations that you've made with tableau so basically. 15:17:29 what the common pattern is, you'll make a bunch of visualizations within a series of worksheets. 15:17:32 And then, once you're good to go, you'll make a story or a dashboard and provide a put all of those visualizations where the best ones inside a story or a dashboard. 15:17:41 That which you'll present to whoever you're presenting to. 15:17:45 Again. We will discuss these in more detail and later lectures. 15:17:48 So now that you have a little bit of the jargon down. 15:17:51 So again, this is a worksheet over here is the view where we will make our visualizations. 15:17:57 Now that we have a little bit of this jargon down we're ready to start learning more jargon in the next video. 15:18:03 Specifically what the different types of data and tableau are called. So that's it. 15:18:08 For this video. I hope you enjoyed learning about workbooks, worksheets, and at least getting introduced to stories and dashboards. 15:18:16 We'll learn about them more at the end of the Mini course.
