Aggregated movie ratings and reviews are often weak indicators of enjoyability for a specific person. We plan to use movie databases to provide refined and personalizable movie ratings along a few dimensions - (1) If a user cares more about reviews from viewers who frequently watch movies in the same genre as the movie, then providing a way to adjust for that. (2) Reweighting scores to give more importance to reviewers from other viewers with similar tastes as the user. (3) Using "most helpful" labels for text reviews on IMDb to classify other text reviews as potentially helpful. (4) Various other kinds of personalizability created using both explicit user input and information inferred about the user.
