Modeling biodiversity in response to climate change and habitat fragmentation
Jeremy Borden, Sriram Raghunath, Dawit Mengesha, Yusupujiang Aimaiti, Chelsey Hunts
Our broad goal is to make projections of species distribution and biodiversity in light of climate change and habitat fragmentation (things like logging, road expansion, and agricultural intensification) and to identify particularly vulnerable species. We’d like to address this with ecological occupancy/species distribution models.
We were planning to focus on birds (with data from iNaturalist or eBird) and hopefully incorporate data from WorldClim, OpenStreetMap, and Global Forest Watch to model habitat and climate change factors.
