Protein Symmetries

Proteins assemblies commonly exhibit symmetry to their structure, and this symmetry is essential to both their construction and their function. Many symmetries of proteins have been identified and studied, but have all? The Protein Data Bank (https://www.rcsb.org/) contains protein information, including known symmetries. I want to train a model on symmetries from mathematics, especially group theory, and then use the model to identify symmetries in proteins, possibly leading to identification previously unknown protein symmetries.

If a more interesting dataset/project is identified, I am very open to doing a different project inspired from engineering or science.
