Walk Your Way to Wellness: The Link Between Walkability and Health
PRANITI SINGH,Maryam Bizhani,Dimitri Navarro

A 2015 survey found that nearly half of respondents prefer living in such walkable communities over car-dependent ones. Living in walkable cities makes it easier for residents to access stores, jobs, and other destinations on foot, encouraging increased physical activity and improving overall health. Moreover, walkable neighborhoods foster social interaction, strengthening community bonds and enhancing mental well-being.
This project aims to systematically investigate how city walkability correlates with residents’ mental and physical well-being. Using real-world data, we primarily analyze the relationship between specific walkability features and health prevalence outcomes to test this hypothesis. We also examine which specific walkability features most significantly influence the extent of health prevalence outcomes.
