Overview
In this boot camp, we will cover introductory sections from industry-standard texts. The material will cover basic quantum algorithms (Grover, Quantum Phase Estimation, Shor) and selected advanced topics (for example, Quantum State Preparation, Hamiltonian Simulation, Stabilizer/CCS codes).
There will be three ``mini-projects'' implementing both fundamental algorithms (for example, Grover's Search or Shor's algorithm) and current methods (for example, state-of-the-art quantum state preparation or error correction methods). You will have the option to select from a list of project ideas.
These will be announced every two weeks, starting on the second week, and you will have two weeks to submit your work.
The successful submission of these mini-projects is a requirement for the certificates of completion of the boot camp.

Amin Idelhaj - Quantum Computing - Final Project
Amin Idelhaj

Project 1: Quantum State Preparation
We implement arbitrary quantum state preparation in Qiskit using a circuit of single-qubit gates and multi-controlled RZ gates, with no ancilla qubits. Correct handling of the global phase makes the circuit usable as a controlled subroutine.

Project 2: Clifford Noise Reduction
In this project, we study the Clifford Noise Reduction (CliNR) scheme of Delfosse-Tham in arXiv:2407.06583. This is a form of quantum error mitigation which has a much smaller qubit overhead compared to quantum error correction, thereby making it a more viable near-term approach to handling quantum noise, while avoiding the exponential overhead sampling cost typical for error mitigation. We use Stim to simulate this scheme and provide numerics demonstrating its performance in various regimes.

Tuscany McCann - Quantum Computing - Final Project
Tuscany McCann

Project 1 - HHL Algorithm - https://github.com/Tuscany-McCann/Annotated-HHL
Steps through the construction of a circuit to implement the HHL algorithm for solving linear equations Ax=b, i.e. computing A^{-1}b. This is achieved by Quantum Phase Estimation on e^{iA}, and dividing by the estimated eigenvalues by means of an appropriate rotation of an ancillary qubit.
Project 2 - GQSP Algorithm - https://github.com/Tuscany-McCann/Annotated-GQSP
Steps through the construction of a circuit to implement Corollary 8 from the GQSP paper, which is Hamiltonian Simulation of a linear combination of unitaries. LCU formalism combines with a sequence of SU(2) rotations to block-encode a Laurent approximation of the desired evolution.

Note: our video player does not support playback speed options. You can find a third party browser extension which will allow you to modify video playback speed. For example, this one works for Chrome: video-speed-controller. If you would prefer to avoid a browser extension you can manually modify the playback speed in the javascript console as well: Speed up any HTML5 video player!
