Age-old advice is that you should invest and then hold for a long time before cashing out. Analyze historical stock data for large companies. What’s the observed probability that you saw a return on your investment given that you held for 1 year? 5 years? 10 years? What’s the expected return on investment given that you held for a certain amount of time?
